30 Years of European Product Liability Law

SDZLEGAL SCHINDHELM was a sponsor of the international conference „30 Years of European Product Liability Law”, organized by the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław.

The Conference was an excellent opportunity to discuss whether regulation presently in force in European Union Member States concerning liability for damage caused by defective products, as implemented under Council Directive 85/374/EEC, remains, after 30 years, an adequate legal response to the phenomenon of products brought to market that fail to ensure appropriate levels of safety for their users.

The discussion was led by Polish, Austrian, Belgian, French experts as well as experts from the Netherlands, Germany and the United States, who also presented current results of the international research project "Product liability in EU law and in national laws and the development of new technologies" funded by The National Science Centre in Poland.
